WHAT TO SEE AND EAT IN NEW ORLEANS AND NOT GAIN WEIGHT

The Ultimate Guide to Eating EVERYTHING in New Orleans in 2023 during Mardi Gras.

Are you heading to New Orleans and worried about gaining weight or spending too much money? If so this is the blog post that you need to read.

I was able to spend 5 days and 4 nights in New Orleans courtesy of Hotel Vinache located at 1800 Canal Street; it is absolutely an amazing place to stay if you do not mind walking to the French Quarter and enjoying views of New Orleans Broadway and the Joy Theater.

Hotel Vinache directly across the Joy Theater New Orleans

I was headed to New Orleans for Miss Universe and the best part of this trip; I was able to see and eat everything so you can save money and learn from MY mistakes.

If you’re looking for local cuisine this is exactly what you want to do: please note that this is on an intermediate fasting diet.

What does that mean?

Intermediate fasting is when you only eat for a certain portion of the day-you can eat for 8 hours or 10 hours your choice and there are many benefits to this lifestyle.

Not only does it save you A TON OF MONEY. It is also great for your circadian rhythm, enhances sleep patterns, and helps you shed body fat.

My eating patterns are 10am to 6pm; if I have to I stretch it to 7pm for dinner purposes; however, usually I am stuff by then.

Breakfast/Lunch.

For your first day you want to head on over to the French Market and start your way BACKWARDS.

However, before you stop there there is an amazing bar called the Grazers and they always have a band playing-they have the most amazing cocktails and I highly suggest everything on the menu because I almost tried everything.

Then I would go to the French Market.

Please keep in mind the French Market hours are 10 am till 4pm.

Inside the French Market you have many options to choose from, however, what I suggest is the Aligator on a Stick for $8.00 which also sells the gumbo for $10.95. (at the time of this writing)

Please note the logo of the business has an alligator and they also sell hot sauces and it is a family business.

I WOULD NOT SUGGEST THE PO BOYS FROM THIS PLACE-WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.

After you eat inside; getting your alligator on a stick I would suggest getting a Crawfish empanada which is right up the street from this location.

This is a fantastic place to go and you have to go because it has small bites; from mac n cheese, to fried pickles, and right across this place it has an oyster bar.

So imagine!

Grabbing all of those small bites then having an amazing cocktail in your hand then grabbing some fresh oysters-you can also shop inside the market for ‘local’ goods however, I would suggest going further inside the French Market.

That 3pm Crunch

Now that you’re done hitting up the French Quarter; now it is time to eat at Cafe du Monde. NEVER eat here in the morning; you will be waiting in line and regret it. You also need cash to eat here THEY DO NOT TAKE CARD.

I would suggest this order; the beignets and hot chocolate for dipping.

This equals perfection.

Hopefully, you got another drink to drink at another open bar- one right across Cafe du Monde that sells huge drinks for $13.00.

I would even get a drink prior to riding the carriage ride which is around $75.00 and you can see the whole city and hear stories-I I did not participate so I do not know the quality of the horses or tour.
